Lewis peacefully passed away at his home in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack, as confirmed by his publicist Jeff Abraham. His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, has requested privacy during this time.

Larry David, in a heartfelt statement shared by HBO, expressed his deep connection with Lewis, describing him as a brother. He praised Lewis for his unmatched blend of humor and kindness, despite making him sob on this occasion.
